Details about this Yoga Retreat in Wales:
Yoga
During this weekend we will practice several invaluable techniques and tools such as pranayama breathing exercises, bodily and sensory meditation from Yogic and Buddhist traditions, mindfully executed yoga poses and movements and of course the deeply relaxing practice of Yoga Nidra. We will take inspiration from Hatha Yoga as well as more recent methods such as those popularised by Vanda Scaravelli.
This yoga retreat in Wales, is the perfect setting to be introduced to or to deepen your knowledge of the aforementioned practices. The sessions are aimed at everyone at any level and you will be practicing up to 12 hours of yoga and relaxation over the weekend.
Thursday:
- 17:00 – 18:00: Arrival / settling down.
- 18:00 – 19:15 : 75 mins Hatha yoga – relaxation.
- 19:30 – 20:30 Dinner.
Friday and Saturday:
- 07:45 – 08:30: Optional sunrise class 45 mins Breathwork, meditation.
- 08:30 – 09:30: Light breakfast.
- 10:00 – 12:30: Morning Workshop 90 minutes Yoga, breathwork, meditation.
- 13:00 – 14:00 Lunch.
- 14:00 – 17:00 Your own free time.
- 17:30 – 19:00: Evening sunset class Mindful, restorative yoga, yoga Nidra.
- 19:30 – 20:30 Dinner.
Sunday:
- 07:45 – 08:30: Optional sunrise class 45 mins Breathwork, meditation.

The Venue
Built at the height of the Georgian Regency period in 1809, Glandŵr is a grade II listed country house in the village of Tresaith in south Ceredigion on the southern coast of Cardigan Bay. It offers five-star accommodation for up to 10 yoga guests.
Glandŵr has 6 rooms: 2 double bedrooms with either en-suite or private bathrooms. Two double rooms and two twin rooms share modern and contemporary decorated bathrooms with spectacular glass atrium skylights, bathtubs or walk-in showers.
Each room is decorated with its own unique style and with taste. They are also equipped with WiFi and a kettle to make yourself tea and coffee in the comfort of your own room. When you arrive in your room, you will find on your bed two towels and for people who share bathrooms, a bathrobe.
The house also offers a large open style kitchen, three comfortable lounges including a games room. You’ll have plenty of space to unwind and relax in a splendid location far from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The Food
Downstairs, via a beautiful staircase, topped with a striking lantern which streams daylight into the middle of the house, you’ll find the thirty foot (nine metres long) kitchen and dining area. Surrounded by floor to ceiling windows with views of the surrounding countryside, you’ll have plenty of space to relax, chat and dine with the other guests.
In this great kitchen, Linda and her husband Alun, our hosts, will be cooking tasty, fresh and nutritious vegetarian meals. They source the ingredients locally and from farms around the retreat. They are fully prepared to accommodate any dietary or allergy requirement – just please let us know in advance.
3 meals per day will be served: light breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Optional activities
Tresaith is a quiet and picturesque seaside village with immense amounts of charm. One of its most attractive features is a dramatic cliff top waterfall where the river Saith cascades down onto the golden sandy beach below. The village is crossed by the famous Wales coastal path which starts at Queensferry in North Wales, and ends at Chepstow in South Wales.
It is a perfect setting for both keen walkers or gentle strollers. If you come by car, you can drive to several nearby castles and museums in the area or just enjoy the Victorian splendours of New Quay.
Glandŵr, the house where the retreat is held, is close to farm shops owned by local friendly farmers who will sell you their best cheeses, Welsh cakes and honeys etc. You can also visit the local pub, the Ship Inn with its scenic outdoor seating area where you can observe beautiful sunsets and enjoy some fine beers.
Glandŵr itself, is a beautiful and peaceful place to spend a quiet evening having a snooze, playing some pool or backgammon or watching a movie.

The Yoga House at Glandŵr is situated in the small village of Tresaith on the West Wales coast of Ceredigion, overlooking Cardigan Bay and the Irish sea.
By train:
If you decide to take the train we are encouraging everyone to arrive on the same train or around similar times at Carmarthen train station on Thursday afternoon. Our host, Alun, will come to pick us up with a coach from the Carmarthen station to the house. The station is 1 hour away from the house. Please note that the transfer is included in the cost of the retreat.
- London to Carmarthen: 4 hours and 15 minutes from Paddington station.
- Birmingham to Carmarthen: 4 hours and 25 minutes from Birmingham New street station.
- Bristol to Carmarthen : 3 hours from Bristol Temple meads.
- Cardiff to Carmarthen: 2 hours from Cardiff Central Railway station.
- Swansea to Carmarthen: 50 minutes from Swansea station.

By car:
By car from the south, take the M4 and A48 to Carmarthen, then follow the A484 to Cardigan. Bear northwards in Cardigan along the A487 for around 15 minutes, then the B4333 for Aberporth at the Coggerddan junction. At Aberporth bear right for just over a mile, following signposts to Tresaith. You will descend a hill into Tresaith. Just before the bottom of the hill, the house’s driveway will be on the right, marked by a large sign for Glandŵr.
By car from the north, follow routes to Aberystwyth in mid-Wales, then take the A484 southwards to Cardigan via Aberaeron and Synod Inn. Ignore the first sign post for Tresaith, continue driving until the next major crossroads at Gogerddan Junction. At Gogerddan bear right to Aberporth along the B4333. At Aberporth bear right for just over a mile, following signposts to Tresaith. You will descend a hill into Tresaith. Just before the bottom of the hill, the house’s driveway will be on the right, marked by a large sign for Glandŵr.
